OUR WORK
Our Work in Action
We aim to work where few others do, in fragile regions overlooked by mainstream aid. Every AVELA project will blend environmental restoration with humanitarianism, proving that small, green interventions can drive long-term prosperity and planetary health.
Each of these places face their own unique challenges, but they share a common truth: small, community-led environmental actions can make a difference.
Why: because behind the headlines are communities quietly holding on, places where thoughtful, low-cost, community-led actions can rebuild ecosystems and transform lives.

Mauritania
Mauritania faces advancing desertification, extreme heat and water scarcity. Rural communities particularly women bear the burden of environmental stress, walking further for water and struggling to maintain small agricultural plots. AVELA hopes to support locally led initiatives such as:
- Small-scale water retention systems
- Women’s agricultural cooperatives
- Climate-resilient food production
Senegal
Senegal sits at the frontline of Sahel climate shifts characterised by changing rainfall patterns affecting farming and food systems. Women are central to agricultural production but often lack access to resources. AVELA aims to explore partnerships that strengthen:
- Regenerative agriculture
- Community tree nurseries

Comoros, Small Island with Big Resilience
Nestled in the Indian Ocean, the Comoros islands are particularly vulnerable to climate change face rising seas, soil erosion and storms that hit harder each year. Despite this, local communities have shown great strength. AVELA will partner with groups create eco-livelihood initiatives.

A Shared Vision
Across these countries, Mauritania, Senegal and Comoros we see different landscapes, but one struggle: to live with dignity and balance in a changing climate. As we grow, our purpose remains steady, to stand with communities often left behind, helping them build resilience and hope in a changing climate.
AVELA’s mission is simple yet bold, we want to make green humanitarianism the heart of how we respond to the climate crisis.
